Volume flow sensors

Precision and efficiency in compressed air technology

In industry, monitoring compressed air consumption plays a key role in the efficiency and reliability of your systems. Volume flow sensors are crucial for measuring compressed air consumption, correctly dimensioning components, allocating consumption to individual consumers and locating leaks.

Reasons for volume flow measurement

Why is it essential to monitor the volume flow in your compressed air system?

Cost and energy optimization
  • Energy efficiency: Optimizing compressed air consumption and reducing energy usage
  • Cost reduction: Minimizing unnecessary operating costs, such as those caused by leaks or inefficient use
  • Reduction of CO₂ emissions: More efficient use of compressed air leads to lower energy consumption, which reduces CO₂ emissions
Maintenance and system monitoring
  • Early problem detection: Leaks, blockages, or inefficient components are detected quickly, simplifying maintenance
  • Predictive maintenance: Continuous monitoring allows for timely scheduling of maintenance actions, minimizing downtime and repairs.
  • Condition monitoring: Real-time data on system performance allows for targeted monitoring and timely adjustments.
Process and production optimization
  • Process optimization: A stable and demand-driven compressed air supply ensures smoother production.
  • Improved product quality: Precise control of compressed air supply ensures consistency and quality of end products.
  • Performance improvement: The accurate adjustment of air volume flow to meet specific requirements boosts system efficiency and performance.
Sustainability and quality control
  • Resource conservation: Precise measurement helps reduce compressed air consumption and prevents unnecessary waste.
  • Error prevention: A consistent compressed air supply prevents production errors and ensures machines always receive the correct amount of air.
  • Environmental protection: By optimizing resource use, the company actively contributes to reducing its environmental footprint.

Features and benefits of METPOINT VFS TI & TM

Open sensor design

Open sensor design

  • Two temperature sensors at different length encapsulated in stainless steel 1.4404
  • Dirt is more difficult to deposit due to open design
  • Forming condensate between temperature sensors can lead to significant problems if humidity is higher than expected:
    • Due to different length of the temperature sensors, the VFS is less sensitive to condensate: The drop drops down, without a connection between the two temperature sensors
  • Every point of the sensor is easy to reach during cleaning
Line laser

Line laser

  • A line laser can be activated to create a fine line that is visible on the process pipe (only available with VFS TI)
  • The right installation angle is essential for a reliable measurement
  • With the help of the line laser, the maximal allowed deviation of 5° can be guaranteed
  • Unique feature that is much easier than conventional alignment aids, simplified installation and reduction of errors during installation
Position monitoring

Time-of-flight-Sensor (only available with VFS TI)

  • If the sensor has not been tightened firmly enough, its position can change due to process pressure
  • As a consequence, the sensor can then no longer measure correctly as a centered position is essential for the measuring principle
  • A time-of-flight sensor mounted on the lower part of the housing continuously monitors the correct sensor position
  • An alarm is issued on the display (flashing yellow light) or via Modbus if position has changed
Super wide range display

Super wide range display

  • Perfect readability from any angle – the bright 2-inch TFT screen ensures a clear display, even at an angle or in difficult light conditions.
  • Simple and intuitive operation – thanks to the well-thought-out menu navigation, you can find all the functions quickly and effortlessly, without a long familiarization period.
